January Monthly Challenge


1. January is usually one of the coldest months of the year, and as a result, it has been named the month for a number of hot foods. For example, January is National Soup Month, National Hot Tea Month, and National Oatmeal month. For this challenge, read a book written by an author whose name begins with a T, S or O.

 February Monthly Challenge

3. The 17th of this month is Fat Tuesday this year. The Day before Lent starts on the Catholic calendar, and the biggest party day of the year in places like New Orleans, Rio de Janiero, etc. Read a book set in one of the places in the world that celebrates either Mardi Gras or Carnival.

4. the 27th is No Brainer day....so this one is a no brainer.....read a book. Any book!

April Monthly Challenge

1.An over whelming theme is humor, April is national humor month, April 1st is April Fools Day and the 14th is international moment of laughter day. So read a book that makes you laugh or at least brings a smile to your face.

May Monthly Challenge


 1) First off, May is filled with days or weeks that recognize some important people in our lives. Mother's day, Armed Forces day, National Police week, Nurse's week and Emergency Medical Services week, just to name a few! For this challenge, read a book that has an inspiring character - a mom, a police officer, a soldier or veteran, etc.

2) May is also a month full of FOOD!! YUM!!! May is National BBQ Month, Salad Month and National Hamburger month. This excites me! Read a book that is based in a town or country where your favorite food comes from. Example, I would read a book set in Italy, cause I LOVE good Italian food! This can be general (i.e. Italian food) or it can be specific (i.e. Cheesesteak has roots in Philadelphia).

3)There are 31 days in May, so read a book with "three" (3) or "one" (1) in the title. 



Bonus challenge - May 11th is Twilight Zone day! I'm not a huge syfy fan, so I challenge you to read a book that is NOT part of your normal genre. Have fun!

June Monthly Challenge

1. June is when the most marriages occur - so read a romance book.

2. June is also the month of my birthday and my two favorite genres are historical fiction and cozy mysteries so read a book from one of those genres

3. Father's day is also in June so let's celebrate it by reading a book by a male author.

July is a patriotic month with Canada Day on the 1st and Independence Day on the 4th. Read a book by a Canadian author or read a book with a red, white, or blue cover or the word red, white, or blue in the title.

NovemberMonthly Challenge

1. November 1st is “Orphan Sunday” and November 9th is “World Orphan Day”. Read a book that is about family, kids, adoption, etc.


2.Since there are so many days to celebrate all the yummies we love, read a book either about food, with food pictured on the cover, a chef, a restaurant. As a bonus, share a recipe that is something you love to eat! 


3. Read a book by your favorite author, an author that is new to you, or a friend’s favorite author!

Bonus:  Read a book that has a birthday party, or is 2nd in a series, has 2 in the title, is the 2nd book that was published by an author, or 2nd on your to be read list!

Charles Dickens publishes A Christmas Carol. (1843) and Franz Joseph Gruber composed "Silent Night". (1818) - In honor read a holiday book,a book set in the winter, or the cover or title references one of these.


Sherlock Holmes appeared for the first time in print in "A Study in Scarlet." (1887) - In honor of this, read a mystery.
